We welcome hearing from anyone interested in getting involved and volunteering with us.
If you are interested in joining our rota, Off The Record runs an accredited 'Being a Volunteer" (BAV) selection and training programme for new volunteers twice a year.
- This is determined by the needs of the rota and funding, but usually takes place in the autumn and new year.
- You don't need any previous experience (though we would need you to be empathic and understanding of the needs of young people).
- You need to be 18 or over.
- If you have had counselling with us, you will need to wait at least 6 months before you apply.
All potential volunteers complete this extensive 4-day accredited training. This covers all main policies and procedures and offers skills development in engaging, enabling and empowering young people. This course also explores telephone work and other challenging aspects of working in a youth counselling setting.
Our child protection policy, also means we will need 2 satisfactory references and all volunteers complete an enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau.
- Phone to find out dates of our next BAV training.
- Send in a large SAE (to the address below) and we will send you an application pack 6 weeks before our next training starts
