Off The Record is a registered charity and and has been supporting young people from Havant, Portsmouth and the surrounding areas since 1977. It is an independent organisation not to be confused with other agencies across the country that may have a similar name.
Local volunteers offer all the support to young people. They all work within an ethical framework for volunteers using counselling skills as well as Youth Access guidelines of good practice and Hampshire County child protection policy.
Off The Record welcomes any young person in difficulty, whatever their circumstances, and each year receives approximately 7,000 contacts from young people.
All counselling takes place at one of our two bases. We never offer counselling at home and don't offer counselling to couples together.
Off The Record supports equal opportunities in all aspects of its service delivery and treatment of others - Off The Record believes that all people have the right to be treated fairly and without prejudice irrespective of their gender, race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, class, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, HIV status, ability, appearance or size.
Young people's views contribute to the design of the service which is tailored to meet their needs.
“Having had counselling myself and experiencing first hand how it helped me get my life back on track, I really wanted to give my support to Off The Record by becoming patron. I hope I can help spread the word and persuade other young people to get help and advice when they feel there is nowhere else to turn.”
